11U Prospects

11U Prospects

PGYBA is excited to offer the 11U Prospects program (Prospects) this season with the goal to provide additional develop and support to grow our players wanting to head down the path of playing competitive baseball.

The Prospects program will run from April until early June.

To be eligible for Prospects, all players must be registered for the 2024 house season. Players who wish to join Prospects from associations that do not offer similar programs, must apply through the PGYBA Board, then upon acceptance, must complete a BC Minor Baseball Player Movement Form, and participate in the PGYBA House League.

Prospects teams will be formed in early Spring.  There will be an additional cost of $50 per player to participate in the Prospect program. These fees will cover additional field/facility fees, equipment fees, jerseys, and umpire fees. There will be additional travel and tournament costs, if you choose to attend an out of town game or tournament.

All Prospects, Selects, and Knights are expected to participate in the fundraising opportunities provided by PGYBA. With funds covering coaches travel, affiliation fees, insurance and provincial’s registration fees for the Knights teams.

While all players in the 11U house division are welcome to register for Prospects, the program is geared towards developing those players who want to become our future Knights and play baseball at a more competitive level and are interested in possibly traveling during summer ball. Registration in the  Prospects program guarantees that your player can attend the weekly practice(s). However, it does not guarantee that every athlete will be selected to play in all games or tournaments, or in the summer travel season.

The head coach and assistant coaches, with approval from the PGYBA board, will select teams of 12 to 15 players for each game and each tournament from a list of interested players.

Depending on the number of players registered PGYBA will be creating equal teams to play in Prospects. Our goal is to have at least two teams. The Prospects will aim to have an inter squad game per week and at least one practice time per week (day/time TBD). The program also hopes to attend at least one tournament in the season.  Please note, we currently do not have anything scheduled

These games and practices are in addition to regular house commitments. All Prospect players MUST participate in their house team schedule as well as fulfill their commitment to the Prospects. Spring League is the priority, as per BCMBA Rule 9.01, to be eligible for summer ball, an athlete must have participated in at least half of their team’s games in the Division Spring League.

Coach selection will be completed by the PGYBA board.

There will be evaluations for the Summer Team in June, where we will select a 11UAAA, 10UA, (and potentially 11UA, 11UAA) team to play summer baseball and attend the provincials.  Participation in  Prospects does not guarantee you a spot on the Summer Team and all players are welcome to attend evaluations whether they played Prospects or not.   Participation in  Prospects is not a requirement to be eligible to try out for a Summer Team.

Please note, upon selection to the Summer Team there will be an additional $200 registration fee and $150 uniform deposit. The uniform deposit will be returned to you upon returning the full uniform in clean condition. These fees  will cover additional field/facility fees, equipment fees, jerseys, and umpire fees. There will be additional travel and tournament costs.

Summer Season runs from mid June until mid August with the following potential travel commitments depending on team designation:

June 28-July 1 Kamloops

July 12-14 Kelowna

and

11U Provincials Aug 1-5

11UAAA North Shore

All players whether selected to a team, attending a game/practice or tournament are our future Knights. All players will be:

  1. given equal opportunities, equal instruction, equal support and equal playing time to develop and improve their skills
  2. given the opportunity to play various positions both infield and outfield at practice and during games/tournaments
  3. supported and encouraged to gain confidence both on and off the field
  4. Players will not to be ridiculed or yelled at for making a mistake
  5. A player will never be pulled off the field mid inning due to an error in play.

The PGYBA Board is looking forward to the upcoming season and our excited about the Prospects program. Although the season will look a little different then what we are all used to seeing, we are confident in our coaching choices and on our mutual commitment to developing and building our Knights teams.
